A Body Image Revolution is Happening Around The World

Nearly 3000 women are helping to kickstart a body image revolution around the world, by learning from some of the world’s top body image experts during a unique teleseminar series that begins October 21.

Negative body image affects women of all sizes, shapes, weights, enthnicity, and ages; and increasingly affects girls even from the age of 5.

When a women suffers from negative body image she is likely to also suffer from lower self worth, is at greater risk of eating disorders, and making life-limiting choices.

Founder and host of The Body Image Revolution telesummit, holistic counsellor Sandra Ross, said that the causes of negative body image are complex, but include an emphasis on images of extremely thin and very young women in all media, highly effective marketing of beauty and weight loss products, and misinformation on the health risks of obesity.

“We have an internationally known researcher, Dr Samantha Thomas dispelling the myths around obesity, and it’s a message that has never been more important than now, because diets just fail miserably to change weight long term, and body fat has never been more hated, nor more shamed. It’s a vitally important social issue because it is damaging our young people,” she said.

Other speakers include former Elite model Nicole Clark speaking about her documentary Cover Girl Culture, Dr Robyn Silverman speaking about her research and new book Good Girls Don’t Get Fat, plus-size model, actress and body image activist Chenese Lewis, Psychotherapist and exercise guru Kelly Bliss, author and activist Rosie Molinary, The Ingredients Investigator Dr Christine Farlow, founder of breast health website 007b.com Maria Miller, personal style guru Leslie Gonzales, artist and founder of The Beautiful Woman Project Cheryl Ann Webster, facial exercise and natural skin case expert Carolyn Cleaves, and body image coach Karly Randolph Pitman, who is featuring in the upcoming documentary The Inner Weigh.
